Benefiting from abundant research materials, outstanding research talents, and an atmosphere featuring courage, innovation, reflection, and earnest practices, Soochow University has made great achievements in scientific research in the exploration of truth. In recent years, the University has made great breakthroughs in operating major national scientific research projects, winning state-level awards and increasing the number of state-level scientific research platforms. In terms of the numbers of projects approved and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Soochow University has been ranked among the top 20 places for six consecutive years. The Collaborative Innovation Center of Suzhou Nano Science & Technology (CIC) is one of the first group of institutes that has been enlisted as "the Collaborative Innovation Center of Project 2011". As Soochow University Think Tank has developed many high-quality policy-making consultations, the University is approved as a "Model Training Center for High-valued Patents in Jiangsu Province", and the Journal of Soochow University Philosophy and Social Science Edition is also accredited as one of the CSSCI journals and an excellent journal under the "Famous Journal Programme" of the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, grasping the opportunity of military-civilian unity, Soochow University has been selected as the institute co-built by the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Jiangsu Provincial Government. Besides, the University also launched the program of "Renowned City, Renowned University" together with the Suzhou Municipal Government, held three consecutive innovative development forums themed "Dialogue with Suzhou", and developed ten major projects by cooperating with the local government, including "the interaction between disciplines and industries", "the nurturing of innovative platforms" and "the promotion of industry upgrade".  By positively participating in the construction of a learning society, and promoting the transformation and development of education, the University ranks 84^th in the 2017 Nature Index Ranking among all universities and colleges worldwide, and 11^th among the higher institutions in Mainland China. In addition, according to the data of the lens platform and 2017 Nature Index, Soochow University ranks first among all universities and colleges in China on the list of the "most innovative universities and institutes in the world".
