        Introduction:
        In the context of curriculum ideology and politics, foreign language teaching should give full play to the value-led and nurturing functions of foreign language courses, integrating value shaping, knowledge transfer and ability cultivation. Teachers should help students establish correct worldview, outlook on life and values while imparting knowledge of foreign languages and literature and cultivating students’ intercultural communication skills. Based on the Appraisal system in systematic functional linguistics, this study will construct a conceptual framework of value leadership in foreign language teaching, explore the practical path of value leadership, and provide useful references for the construction of foreign language curriculum ideology and politics.

        Speaker profile:
        Miao Xingwei is a professor, PhD supervisor and dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature in Beijing Normal University. He also serves as the chairman of the Stylistics Committee of the Chinese Society of Logic. He was the principal investigator of the National Social Science Foundation Project and the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Research Project. Prof. Miao has published more than 90 academic papers, 6 monographs and 2 textbooks.
